Duryodhana continues talking to Droṇācārya. In the previous shloka, he named Yuyudhāna, Virāṭa, and Drupada as powerful warriors on the Pāṇḍava side. Now he continues the list.

He names Dhṛṣṭaketu and Cekitāna, both warriors in the Pāṇḍava army. Then he names Kāśirāja, the king of Kāśī. The word vīryavān means powerful, heroic, or endowed with strength. Here it qualifies Kāśirāja. So the meaning is “the powerful king of Kāśī,” not a separate person named Vīryavān.

Then Duryodhana names Purujit and Kuntibhoja. Kuntibhoja is Kuntī’s father. He too is named among the warriors on the Pāṇḍava side.

Finally, Duryodhana names Śaibya, described as narapuṅgavaḥ, “the best among men.” This too is not a separate name. It is an adjective praising Śaibya’s excellence.

This shloka is still part of Duryodhana’s enumeration. He is not giving a spiritual teaching; he is taking stock of the Pāṇḍava strength. The Pāṇḍava army is not made up only of the five brothers. It includes many capable warriors and kings.

As Duryodhana continues naming these warriors, his fear increases. Each name adds weight to the Pāṇḍava side.
